Back-to-Back Repeater
There are a number of sites which detail how to connect two access points back-to-back to act as a wireless repeater - all assume that multi-point bridging and local bridging must be used. This is not strictly necessary - it is possible to use two APs accessing a third without the use of bridging mode.
In this setup (we used D-Link 900 AP and AP+):
- 10.0.0.2
DNS 10.0.0.1
Gateway 10.0.0.1
Configured as a standard AP
Channel 6
- 10.0.0.10
DNS 10.0.0.1
Gateway 10.0.0.1
Configured as a client to 10.0.0.2
Channel 6
- 10.0.0.6
DNS 10.0.0.1
Gateway 10.0.0.10
Configure as a standard AP
Channel 11
- PC Clients
DNS 10.0.0.1
Gateway 10.0.0.1
Channel 11
It is sometimes necessary to set 10.0.0.6 with the Ethernet (RJ45) as its primary connection.
