Saturday 29th June 2002 saw the first Uist Nomads Tag
tournament take place at Liniclate. The event attracted
a good turnout with two girls junior teams and three
senior teams. Past Scotland coach and international
player Nairn McKewen was on hand to encourage and run
the junior sides and also refereed the final of the
senior sides. The Red Bulls girls team won the File-Away
Limited Trophy and runners up were the Blue Tops.
The senior competition winners were the Carinish
team with runners up from Aird/Balivanich/Barra, third
place were Torlum/Grimsay. Congratulations to all teams
and a big thank you to you all for supporting this event.
Also a big thank you to our sponsors File-away
Limited for their trophy and the Dark Island Hotel
for the buffet which was excellent. Nairn McKewen will
be on Barra on the 1st July to continue junior rugby
development in the Western Isles.

The Benbecula Half Marathon took place today Saturday
1st June 2002. Terry Fountain ran to raise money for the
Rugby Club and came in with a time of around 1 hr 50
mins. A strong wind throughout the course hindered all
the runners. We will post the total raised once all
monies are collected. Thanks Terry for your hard work.

as part of a wider plan for tens games at various clubs
in the region. In addition we aim to enter the Invergordon

the summer.
