Annual Lochaber Rugby Club, 7's tournament

Uist Nomads were invited to Fort William for the Annual Lochaber Rugby Club, 7's tournament on Saturday 3rd May 03.  A great location in the shadow of a snow-capped Ben Nevis.

Being the first Rugby of our back-to-front season (ferry timings being the reason) the Uist side were definitely rusty and flat. (Harlequins in the other half of the draw, being the only side likely to allow us a result).  Duly despatched by Lochaber, Hillhead-Jordanhill and Strathspey (John MacLean scoring a try in the last game) in the pool games, we were treated to a close fought final between Hillhead-Jordanhill and Liverpool St Helens with the English side the narrow winners.

The third half and tournament dance produced an honourable draw between the Nomads and the Lochaber Ladies Team.

Our thanks are extended to QinetiQ in the form of the Hebrides Range and File Away (IT and Wireless Broadband Solutions) for their continued and very welcome support of the Uist Nomads Rugby Club.

The Nomads next scheduled trip is to Shetland on mid-summers day when Lerwick RUFC host their 125th Anniversary Tournament. 

Vs. Stornoway.
The match against Stornoway on the 4th May was postponed.This was due to injury and some of our players being unavailable. We lost...about 20 tries to 1...ish.

Vs. Craig Dunain.
Result: 39-0 loss

Saturday saw the Nomads take on Craig Dunain away, a hard game which resulted in a 39-0 loss. Another great trip away, thanks to all who organised and attended. Johnny, stop wearing that skull cap!
